Scholastic Art Award Winners

We are thrilled to announce that four of our talented students have been recognized for their exceptional artistic achievements in the 2024 Wisconsin Scholastic Art Awards. Aiden Schroeder, Maggie Ludvigsen, Mehlia Michna, and Bryn Koszyczarek have all received awards for their outstanding works, showcasing their creativity, skill, and dedication to the visual arts.

Aiden Schroeder, a senior, received an Honorable Mention for her captivating Scribble Drawing. Maggie Ludvigsen, also a senior, earned an Honorable Mention for her thought-provoking Escape sculpture. Mehlia Michna, another senior, impressed the judges with not just one, but two Honorable Mentions. Her illustrations, titled *Creation Of The Milky Way* and *Comet Shower Rally*, stood out for their imagination and technical proficiency.

Additionally, Bryn Koszyczarek, a sophomore, achieved a remarkable feat by winning a Gold Key award for her stunning watercolor painting *Cats*. This prestigious recognition places her artwork in the upper echelon of submissions and highlights her exceptional talent at such a young age.

Their achievements will be celebrated at the Milwaukee Art Museum from February 24 through April 7, where Bryn Koszyczarek's Gold Key-winning piece will be displayed alongside the works of other Silver and Gold Key winners. This exhibition serves as a testament to the creativity and artistic excellence of our students.

The Scholastic Art Awards program, a nationwide initiative, has been recognizing and encouraging young artists across the United States since its inception. The Wisconsin region, hosted by the Museum since 1976, received approximately 2,500 submissions across 16 categories this year. A distinguished jury of regional arts professionals meticulously evaluated the entries, selecting the most outstanding works for recognition.

The Silver Key Award, signifies statewide recognition. Furthermore, artworks awarded a Gold Key, like Bryn Koszyczarek's, advance to compete at the national level in New York, offering our students the opportunity for broader recognition and exposure within the artistic community.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Aiden Schroeder, Maggie Ludvigsen, Mehlia Michna, and Bryn Koszyczarek for their remarkable achievements. Their success not only reflects their individual talents but also speaks to the strength and vibrancy of our school's arts program. We look forward to witnessing their continued growth and success in the world of art.
