WSPRA Spectrum Award

Union Grove High School was honored with two Spectrum Awards from the Wisconsin School Public Relations Association (WSPRA) at the organization’s annual fall conference held November 12–14. Travis Wetzel, Career & Technical Education Coordinator and Communications Director, attended the conference to accept the awards on behalf of the district.

🏆 Award of Merit – 2024 Referendum Campaign
Union Grove High School received an Award of Merit for its 2024 Referendum Campaign, a collaborative effort with our construction partners at JP Cullen. The communication strategy supporting the $34.9 million referendum focused on clarity, transparency, and community engagement as the district shared information about safety, security, accessibility, and needed learning space improvements.

🏆 Award of Excellence – Rebranding Project
The district also earned an Award of Excellence for the Union Grove High School Rebranding Project. This initiative—developed through months of feedback from students, staff, families, alumni, and community members—resulted in a modernized identity for the school, refreshed visual standards, and a forward-looking brand that reflects Bronco pride and tradition.

WSPRA’s Spectrum Awards recognize high-quality school communication and engagement efforts by or on behalf of Wisconsin school districts. Entries were evaluated by members of other school public relations associations across the country, with judges representing states from New York to California.

Wetzel extends his appreciation to the individuals and partners who supported this work, including District Administrator Tom Johnson; the Union Grove High School Board of Education; members of the Branding Committee; JP Cullen; and the many staff, students, and community members who contributed their insight, feedback, and support throughout both projects.
